Wedding Traditions: Need Something Blue? Think Outside Of The Box

Not everyone follows tradition, but many women will when it comes to their wedding day. If you are a tradition-follower, then you'll need something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue for your wedding day. Finding something old, new and borrowed that will fit your scheme is pretty easy, but when it comes to something blue, it can be a bit more difficult, especially if blue clashes with your wedding colors. Here are creative ideas to get that something blue at your wedding:

Wishes on Your Shoes

Before the wedding ceremony, have your bridal party (and anyone else that you would like) take a blue permanent marker and write their wishes for you and your future husband on the soles of your shoes. Not only will you get your something blue out of this, but you will also get a keepsake to put up for the rest of your life.

Sew It Inside Your Dress

If blue doesn't necessarily match your wedding colors, then you can have something blue sewn into the inside of your dress. You can have the wedding date sewn in, the initials of you and your husband or anything else that you would like. It helps to create a beautiful keepsake while ensuring you have something blue. It's a great tradition to start if you plan on passing down your dress, as it is something that each bride could do.

Mani and Pedis

If you want to go a bit simpler, then have your toenails and/or fingernails painted blue. If blue can't be incorporated into your wedding, then your toenails are the best bet here since they won't be seen as often. If you're wearing a short dress, you may need to choose a different option.

Blue Lingerie

If your dress will allow it, you can pick out some sexy bridal lingerie in the color blue. You'll get your something blue while also giving your future husband something to look forward to on your wedding night. You could also opt to wear a blue garter with or without this lingerie.

Add Blue at the Reception

While the tradition states that the bride should wear and hold something blue, who says that things can't be shaken up a bit? If you'd like, and it will fit in with your color scheme, you could opt for blue cocktail drinks, blue favors or even a blue getaway car!
